When discussing poverty & crime, being realistic about the conditions helps find solutions. Hyperbole and blame does nothing.
How would I rank Miami's worst neighborhoods? 6-7. Nothing here compares to the huge swaths of poverty, humanity and destruction in the bigger cities of the US or the favelas in Brasil or the shantytowns in Mexico, etc.
As someone wrote, a starving child is a starving child, whether the neighborhood is a 7 or a 10.

I agree bad Miami areas are no big deal compared to other cities but again you and I differ as this is N.America and should be compared to other N.America cities using N.American standards.
If you compare Miami to Mexico, etc than yes we are paradise as are our politicians but because I do not want to become Mexico I prefer to use N.American standards here not look for worse example in foreign country.

Yes Atlanta is much worse. I have traveled a lot and I have seen bad sections of every major city.

I'm NOT suggesting that we should "settle" for bettter than third-world, just that lessons on how, why what and where can be learned from everywhere. That's all.
As I said, Miami isn't worse than other US cities mostly b/c the "bad" areas are smaller. IMO.
(You do know Mexico IS in N America, right?)

you are aware that we are a defacto north american union? I suspect that within the next decade it will be fait accompli along with a standard currency for canada, the united states, mexico and the greater antilles. we should benefit greatly as a port area with increased trade to our sister states in the caribbean as well as the economic boost that the greater antilles will receive from this alliance.
when you get a chance view this site it covers the topic very well.
the amero
there are rumors about that this currency is already in use but that is not true at this point in time.

I noticed from these pics that Miami's hood looks dirty and run down but it's not like those of Detroit's. In our hood blocks and blocks of houses are burned out or boarded up with trash littered everywhere. Check out some of the Detroit youtube video and you will see what it means to live in a hell hole.
