Because not everyone can afford to live in the ritzy sections that are glamorized in the movies, television, etc. and many of these sections represent the real day to day lives people face as opposed to the fantasy portrayed in the media.

Many of those houses would cost around $500,000 in the San Francisco area. It's not the area that makes a ghetto bad it is the PEOPLE! If they don't take care of their fence (pic), you think they will in a nice area? If they don't take care of a small yard, do you think they will in a nice area? Etc Etc Etc

I agree but, sometimes the monkey do monkey see theory is applied.
If your area looks like complete **** what motivates you to keep your residence neat?

I wouldn't personally live in these areas....but they don't look any different from the
South Side of Chicago (which I drove through really, really fast)
Gary, IN
Detroit, MI
certain parts of any major city in California that I've been too (both SoCal and NorCal)
or even the crappy parts of lil 'ole South Bend, IN where I currently live
I mean, really, most major mid- to large-sized city is going to have areas that look like that.

This is the most depressing thread yet in the Miami forum.
Years ago I posted pictures of doors from Coral Gables houses as well as some really nice pics of of sunsets and afternoon rains.
Since I see this coming year as being really, really bad, what will we have for a new thread, "Miami suicides (pictures included)?"
