CASE IN POINT, no one here has mentioned that Hialeah has it's own grid system on top of the city of Miami system. So what's NW 79th Street in Miami also doubles as E 25th St in Hialeah. You also forgot to mention that Miami Beach continues the overall grid system street-wise, but it has no directional label (just "4th street" not, say, "SE 4th Street"), AND there are no numbered avenues there.
|
You subtract 54 off of the street number when entering Hialeah from Miami For example:103rd in Miami turns into 49th street in Hialeah and you would add it back on leaving Hialeah back into Miami.
They don't use a quadrant system in Hialeah,Palm Avenue divides the city west and east

21st street in Hialeah is the only exception; it is actually 73th street in Miami numbers, not 75. Therefore in it's case the formula is to ass or subtract 53 instead of 54.

Very interesting thread.
However, I understand, . . . because you could be fearing for your life as you take the photo, . . . and then the photo does not fully portray the hopelessness of the area.
ie- I understand that it is much worse to actually be there and this cannot be fully depicted in a photo.
(that is why people kept saying "It does not look that bad")

Not only you are right but anybody that has been here for years, knows that the bad areas here have always been crappy, and have been there for a very loooong time.
This place used to be much uglier in the past. This place used to be the Rich(Oceanfront) Dirt poor (right next to it, by US1, metrorail or Federal Hwy) and then the middle class came who moved further West. This is how it is right now. No Kendall, no Weston, no Doral, No Plantation, no Parkland) Get over yourselves.

The scariness of that picture relies only on the fact that we assume that that guy actually has a gun in his hand. Frankly I can't tell what it is. He could just be pointing, or even miming a gun while recounting some other event. I see no proof that it is a gun. The jury is out on this one.....
