Cite to the US Census and not to a website that has flawed statistics. Or, better yet, repost the information that I took so much time to compile earlier in this thread.

The census didn't even know my family's house existed until last year, and it is a 100 year old house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't trust the census when it comes to collecting barrio numbers, they definitely do not have that down to a science. Plus, 1 in 5 people in Kendall are foreign nationals, that probably stalls the census computers when it comes to calculating Kendall stats...

Not at all. Sweetwater, Little Havana, and Allapattah are true barrios. But according to statistics, Kendall has the same demographics as a barrio, and a proportion foreign residents that is equal to most barrios. So the same methods for gathering statistics are definitely at play.

"Barrios" are low-income neighborhoods in Latin America. Kendall is largely a middle-income (with pockets of upper-middle and lower-middle income) community in the United States. Many (most?) of Kendall's foreign nationals are middle-class or upper-middle class and keep well-maintained properties.

Cubans don't consider BARRIOS with the same connotation you guys are using. For Cubans, and maybe other nationalities too, a barrio is a neighborhood. It is not a HOOD like you're trying to make it seem.

In the agreement, but I had a feeling cuba libre was using "barrio" in the sense of a Latin American slum. There are some beautiful barrios out there, however: Barrio Norte in Buenos Aires and Barrio de Salamanca in Madrid come to mind.... I guess a Cuban reference would be like El Vedado in its heyday.

Hey! That's where I was born. In El Vedado.

I know Cuba Libre meant it as a slum. No surprise there but just wanted others to realize that that is not the only meaning.

You did not even bother to read my post. I said Kendall isn't a barrio (or a slum).

I am just trying to convince Crisp here that it is a lot harder for the U.S. census to gather data in a place like Kendall (where 1 in 5 is a foreign national) than it is in a place like Topeka, Kansas!
