Default How does Miami compare with other cities throughout the world on growth?

Having lived in Miami some 40+ years I've seen the city go from a quiet sleepy town to what it is today.
I've said to others in this forum that it was not just Miami, that many other places throughout the world have seen dramatic increases in population.
What are your experiences?

The world's population as a whole is growing exponentially, simply look at the statistics of cities all around the world and you'll see it. In 20 years there's going to be problems, and it sure as hell isn't global warming.

Default Miami Growth

According to U.S. Conference of Mayors, the largest cities in the world are in order (by population size).

Note that the ranking is by "metro area" so includes more than just the city limits. So in Miami's case it probably includes Dade, Broward, and Palm counties.

1) Tokyo, Japan (33.2 million)
2) Sao-Paulo, Brazil (17.8 million)
3) New York City (17.7 million)

No other U.S. City in Top Ten in the world.

14) Los Angeles (11.8 million)
24) Chicago (8.3 million)

40) Philadelphia (5.1 million)
43) Miami (4.9 million)
