The post stating that most areas in Hialeah improving and progressing is a nice idea, but not the conclusion most people would come to after living, working or visiting the area. If improving to you means repaving roads and improving intersections and stoplights, then yes, there is improvement in most places (not just Hialeah). It is very overcrowded and is one of the cities with the fewest trees you will ever find outside of a desert.
Regarding the diversity, I don't think that posters demographics on his block are representative. 3 anglo families???? South of Palmetto Hospital? That is ever rarer than a shade tree on 49 St. Also, I believe the poster mentioned the area south of Palmetto General as being nice??? I believe that HAD to be an error. Maybe he meant...hmmmm...well it is bad in every direction unless you like residential condos, townhomes and duplexes scattered amongst warehouses in a flood zone. And West Hialeah is NOT a nice area...the nice area is offof Okeechobee..with thos indian names...as well as the far northern border of the city.

ha, ha, I know, I know what you mean....yeah, well it's called the "city of progress" cause even in the 60's it was like pasture land and there were tons of factories. Land was dirt cheap there...some of the original gringo's that lived there, wanted to get away from the City rules, regulations & taxes and would live on the outskirts, which in this case Hialeah was one of those places.
In 1960 the more elite and even professional Cuban's came and worked factory jobs and helped build the place up as they needed homes, homes were built on these cheaper lands...many with their own two hands. Though, they spoke spanish.....so the rest of the spanish speakers that came after started moving in and has developed into what you see today. So, it's a matter of personal perspective on what "City of progress" means....
Though, if prices keep going up like this....Hialeah too in time will probably be bulldozed and turn into God knows what....

Not to mention that if you get lost driving in Hialeah you're out of luck, as no one speaks English there.

I agree most parts people pass by to get somewhere are preety bad but i wouldnt say its the worst and 3 anglos families and theres probaly more its surprising for people when i tell them yes its rare in hialeah but there scattered i know some of them of course the majority is hispanic but you find people from everywhere and i also dont find it rude i've been living here for over a year and theres nice people and theres some rude people but to say its rude overall isnt true and the majority of Hialeah speaks english most of the residents are sons and daughters of hispanics that came here in the 60's and 70's and theres the obvious recent immigrant that doesnt speak spanish but some speak some english.
Im not trying to say that Hialeah is perfect and the Best of SoFlo but its far from the worst. I guess im just open minded but i enjoy living here and where i live it is very nice but not beautiful.
Oh and im not sayin all of west Hialeah is nice but theirs neigborhoods that are walkable, lots of parks, and nice houses the area by I-75 and yes the area by the hospital is nice far west from the warhouses the neigborhood is very much livable. Theres also the obvious typical Hialeah neigborhood with ugly lawn and no trees but thats not all of it.

LOL, I have had a good laugh at this, because it's sad but so true!

I love your post.....I used to live near American high close to Hialeah and had lots of friends that actually lived there and went to HML......one of my friends father was a Hialeah Police officer and you are right about it being the scam capital of Florida....just before i moved from Miami back in 96' there was a couple of stories on the news of people that were possing as dentists and got arrested for not being liscensed...and i remember back in 94-95 when they had some protests in Miami and i went with my friend to go get his hair cut at his barber in Hialeah and on the way there "every" major intersection had protestors trying to block traffic and yell at people that were driving by...i saw someone get in a fight at one of those intersections...we must have driven through about 5 major intersections where Cubans were protesting and trying to block traffic....just some memories of Hialeah when i was there ...i have alot more though

Pssft, you think Miami is bad? Try LA! I just moved to Florida from LA and you guys have it easy. If you want to be cured from being a crazy, open border liberal, spend a week in LA. You'll see what I mean. Sad.
