First of all, I'm surprised you've never heard of "Euro-Hispanic." The two words that make up the term are FAR from mutually exclusive. The Latin culture - of which the Hispanic culture, language (Spanish), and literary tradition is part - originated in Europe and can be found there in its purest form. "Hispanic" people have held onto this European language and culture moreso than non-"Hispanic" people of European origin in this country. Even mestizos, who are by blood only partially "white" or "European" may be very European in culture. Among the Colombian and Venezuelan communities in South Florida, there are many affluent whites, but also many affluent and middle class mestizos. It is a misconception that all mestizos are poor. I agree that the Hispanic demographics in Miami-Dade are changing (there actually are working class Hispanic areas in the City of Miami and even in a few of the suburbs where the majority of the people walking on the street do not appear to be white -- this wasn't the case when I was a kid), but the fact that the Hispanic demographics of the city aren't so lily-white as they used to be isn't necessarily a bad thing. Plenty of mestizos live in West Kendall / Hammocks / Kendale Lakes and keep well-maintained middle class properties and are good, law-abiding citizens.
Furthermore, an influx of more Euro-Hispanics to this country could happen, as there are still MILLIONS of white Latin Americans living in Latin America itself. They still make up 35%+ of Latin America's population, so it's not like all the white Latins live in Miami...

I acknowledge that this would be impossible on my part, so I write well-thought, informative posts that aim to chip away ingnorance and/or misinformation little-by-little. You're not the first person to insinuate that my posts are long and boring.... but whatever - hundreds of people have appreciated them and have let me know that by reputation and/or private message. I will gladly eradicate misinformation with my supposedly long and boring posts if I know that my posting is helping people... that is the primary reason I post on here at all.

The majority of Hispanics do not look White and even among the small minority who actually do look White, many of them feel insulted and will correct you in a heartbeat if you say that they are White. I remember there was an episode of Reno 911 where this crazy Black homeless lady referred to deputy James Garcia as a Whiteboy, and he corrected her by saying "ma'am I am not White I am Mexican."

Or how many families are half hispanic and half non... It just gets silly after a while.
Someone posted pretty accurately that S Dade (and these "arguments" always seem to be centered around S Dade while dismissing places like Aventura) ... many of the white, blue eyed folks have been replaced by the white, brown eyed white folks.
WHO CARES what eye color people have or what language they speak at home! It's just the small minded people feeling "oppressed."

Agreed. The stupidity and ignorance one encounters on these forums never ceases to amaze me.
