We need more of the people who come here to feel this way. I am sure that wherever you go will be a step up from Miami!

There are places in Fort Myers and Orlando that look the same way.

These pictures are good examples of what Florida will look like to new residents that are not rich. Also, remember, you get to pay 300K for a house with a view of these shacks. The no tell motel condo conversions on Okeechobee face these run down homes...which back up to busy HIGHWAY US 27. The polluted canal with alligators as a backyard can be spun in Miami real estate jargon as a waterfront diamond in the rough with potential. Mosquitos galore, attract loevely exotic birds at dawn and dusk feeding times. Warehouses scattered throughout the neighborhood. That's a tough one, but I suppose you could pitch a tent and rent it out as a room in the back to the nearbyfactory workers and call these "income properties." Sure, not all of SFLA is like this, but if you are not rich, and were not lucky enough to have bought real estate before the insane boom, this is what you will be stuck with. Many old the trailer parks in this area are now being demolished too...even less affordable housing...oh well. As another poster said...there are parts of Ft Myers and Orlando that look like this too...but something tells me if this canal existed in Virginia it would be developed as a waterfront promenade or in Texas as a Riverwalk. Here it is a run of the mill shantytown. So sad. Wasn't always like this....
