Default Iggy Pop in Miami (CNN)

"Rock star Iggy Pop takes My City My Life on a tour of his Miami and talks about the inspirations of his life."

http://edition.cnn.com/CNNI/Programs/mycity_mylife/cities/miami/

In the first of the two MyCity_MyLife videos, he talks about playing on the beach (South Beach) last year with the Stooges -- I was there.

5-6 years ago I sat across the aisle from Iggy on a flight from NY to Mia - one of the few times in my life I was star-struck. lol

One of the true originals in American music ... "Fun House" was put out in 1970!?!?! Amazing.

I didn't know he lived here. I grew up listening to him in the 80s. I regret not seeing him last year, as well as not seeing Morrissey when he played in SoBe.

Do you know of anyone else of the same ilk who lives here?

Vanilla Ice did live here recently, but that's a different ilk entirely. By the way, a lawyer friend of mine in Dallas won a case for him, where a Miami record company was trying to rip him off on royalties. (He was allegedly born in Miami, and moved to Dallas in his teens. "The streets of Miami--that was my dance school.")

Also living in metro Miami: Lenny Kravitz, Enrique Iglesias, and Chan Marshall (Cat Power): http://www.oceandrive.com/hybrid/arc...gic/index.html

I ran into Matt Damon at a Publix in Miami Beach two years ago, I know he also still lives here.
BTW, Vanilla Ice is from Miami Lakes and lived there till very recently when he moved to Palm Beach County. Rosie O'Donnell, David Caruso, Barry Gibb, Anthony Shriver theres also Cher, Billy Joel, and Oprah which have seasonal homes and the best of them all......OJ

Iggy is so right about all that. He sees MIA the same way as I did. He really gets it. I understood everything he said about it.

When I lived in MIA we had Madonna, Gloria, Sly, Cher, the Bee Gees, Larry Blackmon, and the guy from the Flock of Seagulls was at the Junkyard all the time. I think Ted Koeppel had a dig in Bal Harbour. Michael Caine had a restaurant on Lincoln Road. Elton John was a regular about town then.

Jimmy Page lived here. I know a guy that went over to his house to help him with a sound system from his store and when Pagey learned that he played guitar, asked him to show him a few things. Not sure where he is now.

My former bass player was the electrical contractor that wired up the solar recording studio and some of the other buildings at the Gibbs compound.
