Default Bird Strike at FLL

I just heard on 610WIOD that a vulture chashed through the windshield of a plane that then had to make an emergency landing at Fort Lauterdale. I can't find a print story yet. So are birds flying higher these days or are the planes flying lower?

"No one was aboard but the pilot and the vulture."

lol. That's a good line.

I feel bad for the turkey vulture. We have some land in our back yard from time to time. They are HUGE.

Here's a pic I took of one in flight:

Maybe its time to start putting scarecrows or something at the airports to scare the birds away. I imagine if the plane had been a LSA-type plane the pilot would have been killed by the impact.
