I feel ya. I know some nice people down there in those "areas". I used to go to little haiti all the time to get a haircut. My aunt used to own a salon down there. And my mom used to work in liberty city before I was born. Im origanally from west palm beach. Overtown is looking alot nicer these days but, still has problems. I still wouldnt recommend it for an out of towner, or someone who dosent know anybody down there. There just begging for trouble.

Of course there are nice people in those area's, you'd be crazy to say there aren't. But you still wouldn't catch me in the area. Why put yourself in danger if you don't have to?

I agree completely- and I challenge anyone who thinks this person whould go into Overtown to name 3 things worth seeing there besides the Lyric Theater- which is dilapidated anyways.

I agree. I stated that if he dosent know anybody down there, then he has NO reason to be down there. Unless he wants to see the historic lyric theater which has been called the Apollo of the south. I passed by there once. They gentrified it. But other then that it would be POINTLESS to go down there.

Naw it's not delapitated anymore. They fixed it up. It's looking nicer from what I saw. But he still shouldnt go down there for now. I heard there putting new condos down there. That's kinda pointless their just gonna kick the poor residents out. And I think Miami has enough condos as is.

If you do not want to rent a car...get to the metro and you can go to Coral Gables or the Grove or several other areas worth seeing. For Latinos...you can find them all over but calle ocho...which is 8th street runs right through the heart of little Havana...some great Cuban food there! Stay away from Overtown!

Depends on your definition of "delapitated" if you drive through alot of Overtown it looks like a bomb went off- the street people are all screwed up on household chemicals and yelling at cars- the buildings are missing a wall or two- the cars are missing parts but they roll so people drive them still. Its a bad place for someone to visit- thats my point. Not a tourist area whatsoever.

some of the criminals seem to have the same profile just go to a jail and you will see. they dont want to work, sell and use drugs and all have nice cars, gold teeth and alot of jewelry of which might belong to a innocent person they just snatch or killed for. Laws need to be tuff maybe like in Cuba, If you watch the First 48 or even COPS you will see, low class acting like they are here to rule the neighborhoods but when the real men in blue or black show up they all are wimps and pout. Some of us work hard for what we have that is why we need more Charles Bronson types (vigilantes)
