Have you checked out the Miami Dade Public Schools Montessori magnet schools? There are two in the south end of the county and two in the north.

I know there are a lot of elementary Montessori schools throughout Miami, in every part. I know there are some through the Miami-Dade Public Schools system, but the majority are independently-run and tend to be located in middle or upper-class neighborhoods. I know Brickell has a new Montessori school, which I believe has an Italian background, but I'm not sure. Either way, there are a lot.

Wagner Montessori, which I believe is now going by a different name, is on SW 40th Street (Bird Road) and SW 62nd Avenue. My children went there for one calendar year, from November 2001 to November 2002, and I found the school to be excellent at the time, while probably also being one of the most affordable of that type in Dade County at the time.

Thank you for your replies. Keep 'em coming. I did check out the MDPS site but the locations do not work for us. I am also intersted in the sunset magnet program but I hear it is impossible to get in even though it is supposed to be a lottery. I don't have much faith in the MDPS "gifted, magnet, choice" programs. But I am open to hear ALL and ANY suggestions.
Does the Wagner Montessori have an elementary school? I thought they only went up to Kindergarten. Thanks.

My daughter attended Miami Lakes Montessori - many years ago - from age 3 through 5th grade. I cannot say enough good things about the Montessori approach to learning.
I had a friend who was a Montessori teacher who became a consultant for public school Montessori programs. She spoke very highly of Alexander Montessori. Of course, once again, this was many years ago.

I think it'd be a lot easier if you narrowed down which part of Miami you're looking into, because there are a lot.
