Did anyone read that to replace the graffitti covered signs on 95- the city will need something like 70k? Or that they city "spends over 80k on fixing graffitti on 95 alone"? Any thoughts on why it would cost 70k for three signs or 80k a year for some sandblasting?

Some ideas:

1) union labor doing the work?
2) It's the government so it's not their money (its ours) so what's their incentive to save?
3) typical south Florida corruption?
4) All of the above?

I know that a little lacquer thinner would clean them, but as mentioned above the county uses the damage to their benefit, and your detriment.

The news said, they clean the signs a few times before they have them replaced. Then after they have been cleaned a few times because of repeated graffiti the signs become less reflective and so they have to replace the signs then. But just to clean them they said it cost 1k a piece.

Pathetic. I'll clean them for $900 each. Where do I send my bid?

Ah, but you're thinking of how things work from a purely mathematical model. In fact, I still beat you because my $900 was really $700 for me and $200 to the guy who awards the contracts. You see, in Miami, it is not the LOWEST price that wins but the HIGHEST kickback to the corrupt politicians.
