I have seen that "look" (worn by whichever nationality) in Sunset Place - a lot. Groups of them. All the teenagers on friday and saturday nights. They really are out to impress. Where are these kids' parents?

Last Saturday ... the weather was cool and there was a great three piece reggae and blues band ... it really is a super nice place .. went there after having lunch at Scottys Landing in Coconut Grove which is also super neat ... Miami has its issues and many of them , but beautiful places to have a good time in is certainly not one of them

By the way add Jackie Nespral from the TV news to the list of stunning non "Chonga " Cuban American women down here !!!

Bulgarian Cuban? Huh? Ya, sure. I'm glad someone spent more time on this than me.

I was so excited, I mis spoke. Mimi Davilla is not a chonga. According to the Miami Herald, "She's a scholar. A humanitarian. A Silver Knight." (http://www.miamiherald.com/silverknights/story/542145.html - broken link)

Haha I can't believe I forgot about Southland. I don't think I've been there since about 2001, when it was still Cutler Ridge Mall. Yeah, "Chongas" are overwhelmingly Hispanic... but once in a while there is a non-Hispanic white girl thrown into the mix. Most of the young girls hanging out at Southland (unless it's significantly changed recently) are African-American or Afro-Caribbean, it seems.

I'm gonna have to start expanding my horizons and making my rounds to the various malls so I can get with the program.
Maybe I'm used to seeing certain things so it doesn't phase me to see more of the same anywhere.

Yours truly,

Chonga to be

I'm sure you could get a Chonga makeover Head to Westland Mall, take notes on the fashions you see on some of the 14-21 year old girls, put on your thickest, most exaggerated Spanglish... and you're good to go!

Should I take a notepad and interview a few of the real legitimate looking specimens? What's the best gel? Where to get the biggest earrings (not too heavy so my earlobes don't split)? Tight pants? How tight do they have to be? Sneakers? Who has the best price? Special make-up effects?

Yeah! I can pull this off.
