I never said that. There are many areas of this country with interesting cultural backgrounds such as Italian, Scandinavian, Polish, etc.

we have friends that live there. I've never heard them complain about red light runners. They do complain about traffic. They came to visit and were shocked by the red light runners in Orlando, and I know its just as bad if not worse there in S FL. Good try though. But they dont even begin to compare. Red light runners in Alpharetta vs Orlando or South FL? You gotta be kidding. No comparison. You know it.

I like those numbers! Yup, just as diverse as Miami too. It's funny how you always pick a select copule of cities to compare crime to. You use Alpharetta vs Cooper City, just like you use Cooper City in all crime comparisons, like vs Cary and Raleigh and so forth.
Crime numbers in the mid 200's Alpharetta) is still good though.
As far as the "diversi-tuh" and all the other southern insults and jabs. That's fine too, atleast they speak English and arent rude and kill people in hit and runs! Take a look at the population in Alpharetta and look how many are educated and how much they earn. your "jabs" at southern culture and accents dont hold much weight.

Right on Crisp! Glad you think that way man! NYC and Miami are good places for you! Certainly not Cary or Alpharetta. It is safe, friendly, educated people, beautiful landscape, but doesnt meet the diversity qualifications... doesnt meet the Hispanic/ Italian/ Haitian quota.
I think Miami's white population is 10%. That's diverse? And what, 70% hispanic? Add the AA's at 20%, and it doesnt seem very diverse to me.

Miami-Dade County is approximately 60% "Hispanic," 20% non-Hispanic white, and 20% non-Hispanic black. If that isn't diverse to you, look beyond these macro-groups to find substantial numbers of:
Cubans, Nicarauguans, Argentinians, Spaniards, Venezuelans, Colombians, among other "Hispanic" groups
Italians, NJ/NY Jews, Eastern Europeans, Russian Jews, French, Anglo-Americans, among other non-Hispanic white groups.
Haitians, Jamaicans, Bahamians, African-Americans, among other non-Hispanic black groups.
[Sure beats the "diverse" Atlanta suburb that is 60% Anglo-American white, 35% African-American, and 5% other.]
NYC, LA, and a few other metros are, in general, more diverse than Miami-Dade, but overall, Miami-Dade is far more diverse than most metro areas in this country and in the world.

Miami is about 65% hispanic, 22% African American, and 10% White. That's according to C-D anyway.
But like I said, I am much more into living in a place like Alpharetta, due to it's population stats, education of residents, income of residents, and quality of life. Sharing a neighborhood where everyone is from somewhere else, nobody speaks the same language is not ideal for me and my family. I think diversity is waaaaaay over-rated.

We're not talking about the City of Miami alone; we're talking about Miami-Dade County. The City of Miami has less than 400,000 of Miami-Dade County's +/- 2,300,000 residents, and sits on less than 36 square miles. Many places to which people on this message board refer as "Miami" (ie: South Beach, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Dadeland, FIU, Bal Harbour, Aventura, Hialeah, etc.) are NOT in the City of Miami. The City of Miami is less diverse than Miami-Dade County as a whole.
As you know from my previous posts in this thread, "diversity" isn't the most important thing for picking a place to live for me, either. When people challenge Miami-Dade's diversity, however, I am forced to respond and elaborate on why Miami-Dade IS a diverse place, unbeknownst to many.

Miami has a lot of Hispanics and Haitians, fewer African Americans, Whites, Asians... I guess that is diverse, I'm just thinking Miami has so many Hispanics, it doesnt leave much room for others. But like I said, I think diversity is no big deal, and I think it's over-rated. I like places like Alpharetta, and the fact that it's so easy to identify and talk to the people, without knowing Spanish, Creole, and whatever else language you have to listen to in places like Miami....

I am not trying to be rude, but just honest
You are coming from LA. LA is not the cleanest place in the world. It is like anywhere else..... if you have money then your children will go schools in a nice area.
if you dont have money then you will be in a crime filled area

Diversity isn't overrated...not true diversity, where everyone at least shares one common language. No, MIAMI is overrated, period.
Someone mentioned Alpharetta, GA. Been there once and would gladly swap living here for there. Drivers generally don't kill in Atlanta and Atlanta is very much a part of the United States.
