Not even at decent paid jobs speak English all the time, sometimes no English at all. Ask me about ethics in most the Miami area? what does ethic mean acere?

Hello! we're in the United States, not in Cuba or Venezuela! Everytime I go to an interview they ask me if I speak Spanish, and Spanish is my first language, but some employers think I don't (I still have some accent, but I speak PERFECT english compared to most Miamians). A lot of employers hire employees that don't even know how to say hello, when an anglo comes they don't know what to do . Go to calle 8, Sweeteater, Little Havana, Westchester, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

In Miami, employers pay low veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery loooooooow! from minimum wage or $9 the most, for a receptionist or data entry position. Rent is hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh!!! $900 a 1/1 in the Kendall area. Insurance? don't make me start! Utilities: super high. Entertainment? Don't pay the rent to enjoy the "fantastic" Miami nightlife.

For people who want to move to Miami: JUST DON'T DO IT, YOU'LL REGRET IT!
Low-paying jobs
Why would anyone want to get a data entry or receptionist job anyways? Get an education, that way you can get a better job. That's not the American dream ... working as a receptionist/data entry specialist. If you can't afford the rent while you're in school, get a freakin roommate.

Spanish
Regarding Spanish, we have something called the First Amendment, nobody puts a gun to your head, thank God. Example: I don't like people who complain about low-paying data entry and receptionist jobs - because they don't have an MBA to get a better paying job. But I'm not saying you don't have the right to remain uneducated.

Europe
Really no offense, but have you ever lived in a European country like Italy? I have, and believe me Miami offers a way better quality of life than Rome or Milan. There is no comparison. That's why so many Italians are moving here.

Education
I say get an ADVANCED education, and your problems will have a higher chance of being solved.

Conclusion: Miami is.....

One of the best US cities for newcomers from Latin America, Europe, South Africa, and Quebec.

Not a great city for Anglos, there are countless better choices.

I agree. Many people who make the blanket statement "Don't move to Miami" are making it from the point of view of having a minimum wage paying job. Receptionist and data entry positions pay low EVERYWHERE. So if this type of position is the best you can ever do then yes Miami is not the place for you. Move to a place where you can rent an apartment for $450 a month. However if your working this job while putting yourself through college that is another story.

If you are trying to live in a major city and you want to do so WITHOUT a decent college education, then the problem is you and not the cities. If you cant afford to support yourself and pay for an education then move to where you can and then once you're educated move back.
