Pembroke Pines is nowhere near as nasty as Hialeah. Heck, I'd rather live in Liberty City than Hialeah...Hialeah is probably the most disgusting place in the developed world and the people there are responsible for making it that way.

If you're referring to Hialeah, Pembroke Pines is closer to it than Kendall. And as far ghetto areas.... you should know that there are more of those in North Dade and SE Broward that are closer to Pembroke Pines than to Kendall, too.

I wouldn't call most of SE Broward "ghetto". More "shady" and unpleasant, but not bad enough for a lot of bad to spillover. That being said, almost any point of Pembroke Pines is never more than 20 minutes from Miami Gardens. Kendall isn't that close to anything that vastly bad.

Would you mind sharing where you've had success finding good rentals?
I just got a job in Miami/Coral Gables and we need to move by May 18 ---if you came across any good resources for rentals other than the normal rent.com, rentalhomes.com, apartments.com, etc... in your move search that you could share I'd greatly appreciate it. We're looking to rent a 2 bd with either a family room or finished basement due to pets in a safe area within 40 min of Coral Gables.
Thanks in advance if you know of anything

Tough choice.
I heard the comment about Pembroke Pines being the new Hialeah years ago before I had a chance to go there. It is so untrue.
Trafficwise I would recommend Kendall but schoolwise, I'm not that familiar with the schools, but probably the schools in Pembroke Pines (especially in the West side) would be better. It's a much nicer neighborhood, very expensive by the way.

I lived in Kendall a long time ago, a short walking distance from the Falls.
Nice, but back in those times even Hialeah was not that bad.

Before Hialeah was inhabited basically by Cuban and American rednecks, there was a lot of space and there was a small and peaceful "hood" that didn't revolt during the riot.
Not a bad place back then.

Loren1983,
I've just been using realtor.com & craigslist. Realtor.com is the best site I found. Has everything mapped out and lists nearby schools. There are a ton of other sites but realtor.com is a MLS search so pretty much everything is covered that is be brokered by a real estate office. Craigslist pretty my covers the "by owner" crowd. Good luck with your search.

I've seen old pics of Hialeah...it looked like a whole different world.
