Default Guess what MAJOR multi-platinum band is coming to perform in Miami?!?

GREEN DAY!!!!!

I don’t know about you all but I’m so excited! Been in love with them since the “Dookie” days… haha! CD comes out next week, and the concert is August 4th at the AmericanAirlines Arena!!! I heard on the radio tickets go on sale this saturday, May 9th!

Is anyone a Green Day fan?? And what does everyone think about the new single “know your enemy”? I love it! Let me know!

I'd rather see Slightly Stoopid in August.

I'm very surprised that a band that is popular with English-speaking White people is coming to Miami. My friend came back into towm for the 9" nail concert yesterday and it was in Palm Beach county. I noticed that bands popular with white non-hispanics stopped coming to Dade county like 10 years ago. Back then they would at least play in Broward but now it seems like they won't even come that far south. Greenday seems to be an exception.

I go to concerts in Broward and PB all the time. It's only an hour from Cruzan to downtown Miami at night when most of the shows take place, and there are no real ampitheaters of that size in Miami.

BankUnited is only around 6400 capacity and Cruzan is around 10,000 i believe. So if a 10,000 person act wants to hit South Florida, they have to choose Cruzan or BankAtlantic or AA Arena, and the arenas are much costlier than ampitheaters. I'm pretty sure the demographics don't come into play, coz the bands know they're drawing from the Tricounty area.

BankUnited just had Kings of Leon and Flight of the Conchords within the last few weeks, and they're pretty "anglo". I'm sure fans came down from Broward and WPB to see them, and the bands chose BankUnited coz that's the size venue they needed.

Looking forward to Dave Matthews and OAR in August. DMB is playing 2 shows at the Cruzan. I'm gonna dance like i'm from Miami. Coz i am.
