Moving to Miami with 2 Daughters
I'm moving from Santa Monica, Ca. to Miami with my wife and two daughters aged 16, and 7. We're an upscale Latino family and we're thinking about renting a house either in Coral Gables or Doral although we haven't signed a lease yet and am open to consider other neighborhoods. We've visited Miami however, have never lived there before. I've read a lot of scary comments about raising daughters in Miami and want to move to the best environment for my girls. We were planning to send our girls to public schools. Any advice, comments and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The best public school feeder pattern in Miami is anchored by Palmetto Senior High, which is in the Pinecrest area. If you can afford it, that's where you should look.

hmm 16 yo daughter, nice hook me up with a date? no pedo im 16,lol jk about date, uh doral i personally don't like the attitude of people in doral, specially the younger crowd my age. though Reagan is a very nice school. coral gables high is nice to, but palmetto is the best imo, if you want a school that is safe and no fights go charter, like doral academy, or any other charters, but the others are kinda far from doral or gables.

its either rich snobby, or ghettoish, and yeah alot of the people are "scene" if you dont know what that is ask your daughter. and traffic in doral, is by far the worst, cause all the gated coummunities, you get horrible lines, just like Kendall.

This time we stayed at the Doral Resort although we've also stayed at the Shore Club in South Beach. I'm prepared to spend as much as $3,500.00 per month for a 3 or 4 bedroom place however, I'd like to stay at $3,000.00 or less if possible.

i dont really know of any apartment buildings in doral, but in fountainbleau,fl they have apartment/condos pretty cheap, next to doral, and close to the expressway so its like a 5-10 min trip to downtown and the beaches, but you get ghetto attitude, which is kinda all over miami. im familiar with hialeah rents though as i have lived there, and my mom use to pay cheap rent like 500 for a 2bed but its really dirty and alot of noise/traffic.hialeah is nice though, just dont send your kids to the local schools.
