I am a special education/ ESE teacher relocating from New York to Florida. I recently have applied to miami-dade, broward, and monroe counties. From my understanding, most principals start interviewing in late June. In the past ESE teacher jobs were always abundant. Considering the current economy, how hard will it be to secure a ESE position? Please recommend any positive suggestions.

If it's anything like it was 10-12 years ago there are opening throughout the year for those teachers as the burnout rate is high and teachers are always quiting during the year.

Broward County just announced they are cutting some 100 and something teachers for the next school year. Miami-Dade hasn't announced what their plan is, but if Broward is cutting teachers, Miami-Dade who had a worse budget issue than Broward, will probably follow in the foot steps of Broward and cut teachers too.
