Hello, after reading hundreds of posts I'm more confused than ever as to what city/town in FL to experience...my daughter and I are moving to south FL (she in late August, I around Nov)...she hasnt decided on a college yet. FL has been a dream of mine for years and years, now I can make it happen since my youngest is leaving the nest this fall...so on to the next phase in my life. I'm laid back, quiet lifestyle, a hairstylist (will need a job, prob not a problem finding one), will want to relax on the beach ALOT; she parties some but not on a regular basis and we will live together. We're not rich but will be splitting expenses and will definitely want to live in a nice apt or rental house. I've been looking at Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Delray Beach...any advice?? Thanks.

I really like Boca Raton.. Stay north of Ft Lauderdale... That is my take after living in South FL for 30 years...

Especially two women living alone...

Good luck

In your case, I would agree with the above, maybe you should take this thread over to the Broward County and Palm Beach County sub-forums. Relatively speaking, Miami-Dade is high stress and slightly more expensive. Coastal Delray Beach sounds like your best bet, also the smaller coastal enclaves which are also independent towns like Highland Beach, or possibly further up north of West Palm Beach, like Jupiter or Jensen.

Good luck!

I definitely agree with the some of the previous posts. I personally would recommend north of Broward County, Palm Beach County actually. It seems like the stress level in general is much much less in Palm Beach than Dade.

Also, there are many things to do in Palm Beach. You have beaches, nightclubs, parks, restaurants. If you or your daughter gets the urge to live it up and party at South Beach, Coconut Grove, or anywhere else in Miami it isn't a far drive.

Cost of living is a little bit less in Palm Beach. Good luck in your search.
