Business focused move to Miami
I am moving to Miami for 2-4 months to establish telecom business contacts before moving permanently to Tampa area w my family. I know I'll be doing some business near the intersection of 95 and 395. I am just starting to learn about the Miami area, so I have 2 questions.
Where is the general business district where Fortune 1000 companies will tend to be located?
Where would you recommend I rent a small apartment to be fairly close to the business district and enjoy everything that Miami has to offer? I'm very active. Miami Beach?
Good to be on this board. Thanks for your help.

sounds like you will be near the Design district & Midtown. The business district is downtown & the Brickell area which is south of the area you mentioned. As for a small apt. Miami Beach is not cheap but you didn't mention price.

Thanks for the reply. I don't really need to be right near the business district, I just don't want a 30 min commute or anything. I would be looking for a studio or 1 BR for under a $1000. The lower the better. I don't want to be in a bad part of town or anything though. Living in Miami Beach would be nice but I'm guessing that it won't be feasible at that price?
Any recommendations on a place to live that will have parking?

Oh yeah, and I'll need to find something furnished. Hoping that won't make things much more difficult...

We have several different types of business districts. The downtown business district houses more legal, very dense. Brickell has more financial. Doral has international, but spread out. Design district/Midtown has design (duh!), more entreprenurial. Kind of depends on what you're targeting.

That's great info Investorscooter, thanks. Well, I guess I really should just be focusing on where I want to live. I can always drive to any of those areas. I will be working from home and going into the various business districts periodically. I don't mind driving, but just don't want to make it really far. While I'm in Miami, it would be nice to take advantage of all that it has to offer. Recommendations for a place to live for $1000 or so furnished?
