^^^ I believe it. They move down here daily. I remember going to a sports bar last year, when the Orlando Magic were good, but not as good as they are now. Anyhow, the Yankees game was on too, and even though it was playoff time and the Magic were in the playoffs, the sportsbar had more tv's tuned into the Yankees game than the Magic playoff game. It was pathetic.

Then don't. Orlando is not very appealing, especially in tough economic times. Now I do hear some people in NJ speak favorably about SE Florida.

That is your extremely biased opinion. I doubt the rest of the Country would agree with you.

And of course they speak favorably of SE Florida. Most of the people you are now surrounded by are VERY provincial, and SE Florida is what they know of - nothing more.

The huge ethnic-transplant population in SE Florida owes thier lives to slave labor (ie the textile mills back in Central or South America) or in the case of Northeasterners in SE Florida, low wage labor and Miami's tax colony status.

Orlando does not have nearly as much wealth as Miami, and according to the last election, based on the number of Obama voters along the I-4 corridor, I don't think any new wealth will be moving into that area any time soon. Liberal, activist politics scares away old money. Miami and its shady international banking status will continue to attract old money/business owners from South America to invest their money.

It has nothing to do with being provincial, simply the Miami area has much more to offer than the Orlando area could ever dream of.

Very true. Miami has location, original real nightlife (not the fake downtown Orlando scene), South Beach, an actual downtown center, a major hub/gateway airport, and proximity to the Keys and the Bahamas.

Oh yea, but Miami doesn't have Mickey Mouse...

No. It is simply a matter of that is what they know. Generations of them have flocked to South Florida.

They like Miami/SE Florida because it feels just like home - with palm trees.
