Southern Orlando (Kissimmee, Downtown, etc.) has a lot of similarities to Miami, but to a much lesser extent. Southern Orlando now has quite a bit of Spanish-language advertising, a very large Hispanic population and is seeing much more ethnic stores and restaurants. Orlando as a whole is becoming more Hispanic, however my experience has been that 99% still speak fluent English and conduct most business in English, despite a large Hispanic clientele. Compared to other cities in Florida, Miami and Orlando are most similar simply in the fact of the Hispanic population.
Orlando has a long way to go in the way of wealthy citizens, skyrocketing high-rises and club atmosphere. Maybe one day it will get there...but I'm not so sure that route would be for the best of the city.

In Miami there is a widespread 'swindler mentality'. People screw each other a lot here, more than in other cities. Latin immigrant cliques have perfected many types of fraud, and many who live in Miami are masters of the 'slip and fall' art.
I think the recent real estate boom shows us how so many of these people took 'flipping' houses much farther than the average American in other parts of the country. Different modes of fraud/deceit come and go, but I think the most recent (the RE bandwagon) just proves how many greedy people there are in Miami.
Ethnic fraud/scams are so rampant in Miami I decided to make a list of the professions that are so often proven to be clandestine factories of deceit.
-Medical Insurance fraud - often involves medicare/medicaid
-Life insurance fraud - often involves an abuela and a house off Bird Rd.
-'Whitch doctor' fraud - the doctor with a license from Cuba or somewhere else but NOT America - very common in Miami
-Mortgage broker fraud - crack pot scammers who peddle exotic loans - often to family and friends
-Real estate fraud - people who took the "2-week course" to get a RE license - the number of these people in Miami was once disturbingly high
-Building contractor fraud - Scumbags who use stolen equipment/hike up fake bids/never finish jobs/cut corners - I saw this A LOT in Miami

Orlando does not have nearly as much wealth as Miami, and according to the last election, based on the number of Obama voters along the I-4 corridor, I don't think any new wealth will be moving into that area any time soon. Liberal, activist politics scares away old money. Miami and its shady international banking status will continue to attract old money/business owners from South America to invest their money.

I'm new here, but I enjoy the harsh reality of the few posts I read of yours. The "frauds" sealed it for me to acknowledge contributions. While you may rub some the wrong way...the facts keep the naysayers at bay.

Moderator cut: Personal Attack... although on this post he does make some valid points .. hell yes there is rampant fraud in Miami and with a "third world flavor ".... my question is though what the heck does this have to do with the OP's original question ?
The post could be about the color of the Miami sky and some how "Cuba Libre" will make it an anti Miami or worse Hispanic rant . Yes Orlando is like Miami in some ways , but I feel that there are more differences than similarities and I am not the only one who feels this way ... see the poll results

Orlando has less Hispanics than other major areas of Florida such as West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, and Tampa. I was up near Orlando recently and it really doesn't feel like Miami.

Kiubuh LeeBruh, Let's not change the subject, but it would interesting if you open a new thread explaining what facts support your theory on why some people are the lowest breed within hispanics(like if they were animals) You are not telling the truth supported by facts, you are simply a very unfunny bigot.
Anyways back to the subject, Orlando is not like Miami. Miami being a big metropolitan area (Miami, Ft Lauderdale & Palm Beach) has more things accessible than Orlando and you will always find more business and job oppportunities in South Florida. The Spanish part is true, you will hear more Spanish but unless you are in a very low income area, you will always find people who can communicate in English.

Percentage of Hispanics:
Tampa - 22.1%
Orlando - 20.7%
According to the official U.S. 2007 census.
So yes, it's true.

Wow .... it does not seem that way ... I would have thought for sure that Orlando was at least 35 % hispanic and Tampa no more than 20% ... either way I like both towns . I was up in your neck of the woods today in Wellington and then Hagens Ranch Road or something like that in Boynton Beach ..... west Boynton Beach was surprisingly nice .

20.7% Hispanic in Orlando? LOL! That must be old data bubba. I wont argue stats, but we have the 2nd largest Puerto Rican population in the US, behind NYC. Where I live in the Avalon/Waterford Lakes area of Orlando, it's gotta be close to 40-45%.
