Default Cutler bay permit/code

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are looking into buying our first home, and found a fixer upper, but need some advice. I have reached out to numerous resources but awaiting responses, so ran across this site, figured I would see if anyone has any advice from personal experience.

We have found a 3/2 home with a pool. The house looks in great shape and is a Short Sale. 2 things that require attention are the Master Bathroom and an Efficiency type room addition to the side of the house. The master bath has the structure, just does not have the installation or dry wall, and all amenities. Does this require some sort of permit or code to complete? It does appear all the wiring/drainage is intact, just need to complete the dry wall/installation and get the shower, toilet, etc in.

The bigger question is the addition to the side of the house, the efficiency style addition. It as well has the structure intact, with all the electric wiring, but needs the installation and dry wall, etc.

How would we find if this room/addition is up to code?We would just hate to buy this house, and have to start from scratch for this room, or put more than it is worth into it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The first thing to do is hire a home inspector. You will need to do this anyway before you buy the home. Hire your own do not get the one the agent suggests. Once you have one they should be able to provide you information.
