The unemployment in Dade is at 10%. They are also laying of teachers and teacher's assistance. My co workers mother is a teacher's assistant and she was told last week that they may not be keeping her on for the next school year. Things are very very very bad here. I would think 2, 3 or even four times before coming here.

Oh dear, thats not what I was expecting :-( Sounds extremely similar to the UK its the same here, I am looking at attending university somewhere too and getting myself a degree. Just very tired of home and would prefer a life outside of the UK.

Rebecca I have lived in Miami my whole life as well and now live in Boston.

If your from the UK and hate it and want to absolutely experience something COMPLETELY and RADICALLY different from what you are used to then I would say Miami is the place for you.

Otherwise I would look at a different place. Try to move to an area that more closely resembles where you currently live, if you live in a suburb than look for a suburb, if you live in a big city then look for a big city. If your used to subways then look for a place that has subways. Miami has no public transport and a british girl like you might not appreciate the constant heat as well as the constant never ending traffic. You will definitely need a car.

You must post more specific reasons behind your intentions from moving from the UK to the US first before you can hope to gain any insights from the community here.
