Unhappy Traffic: Westchester v. Doral?

We're moving from Westchester to Doral (renting a home in the new "Islands of Doral"). I've read tons of threads where many of you say Doral is a "horrible" place to live. Is it really THAT bad??? Seriously?

A little background: I'm a mother of 3, with a job in Doral, and expect to get laid off in 6 months. My husband works in the Gables. We close on the sale of our home in Westchester in 2 days! (Praise the Lord, that took WAY to much effort.) We're both in our 30's.

From my home in Westchester, to my job in Doral, the distance is 4 miles, yet would usually take 30 - 45 minutes in rush hour. No offense to any other posters, but I did not care much for Westchester. We chose Doral for it's proximity to both jobs, good schools, and newer communities.

To my question: Is traffic much worse in Doral when school starts?? We've been back & forth from Westchester to Doral (& vice versa) about 10 times at varying hours (including rush hour), and I have YET to see "HORRIBLE" traffic. If this is as bad as it gets, I'll be relieved.

I'd also like to hear a few pros about the area, if any of you have them. I particularly don't mind the "cookie cutter" homes, since we're only renting, and have found that some rules of associations tend to keep the neighbors in check. I used to be excited about the move. Now, I'm more apprehensive.

Thanks in advance!

I should have added that my work is just east of the Palmetto, and NW 31st...traffic towards 25th street is always madness. I won't need to get onto 25th St again during rush hour, after tomorrow.

I was just wondering if the traffic north of 36th aka 41st Streets on 107th Ave gets bad during the school year.

NW 107th and NW114th Avenues are a p.i.t.a. during the morning rush hour because of the schools, quick changing lights, small turning lanes, and moranic drivers. Afternoon rush hour is slow going west to the HEFT since everyone leaving Doral to go to Broward or Kendall takes this route. Other times of the day, the roads in Doral seem empty.

Th new HEFT interchange, 74th Street extension, and 87th Ave Extension will all help alleviate the congestion in Doral.

I don't know about school year, but I would say it could take you more than an hour on a really bad day, and 45 minutes should be about average. Considering that it is only 4 miles, and without traffic it only takes 10 minutes, it is kind of horrible.
