Irish jan,

I have lived in two very different places in Florida. North Fla and South Fla.

North Fla. is very country potato and cabbage farms - but located nearby are beautiful beaches and absolutely BEAUTIFUL springs - some that you can float down rivers and others you can swim and snorkel and play in. (up near Gainesville, Palatka, Hastings)

South Fla. - well I have lived in SoFla for 6 years now. At first - I was so culture-shocked - more culture-shocked than a yankee moving to the South -

No one spoke english here, driving down the Palmetto expressway - well lets just say you did a cross on your chest and prayed for the best during rush hour traffic in the mornings. But you get used to the Miami drivers ......and soon you BECOME one of them!!

I have grown to love Miami and its culture. I have made many wonderful friends from all over Central and South America here - even some from France, Spain and the caribbean.

You can't beat Miami and its culture. But you have to get past the language barrier - or learn spanish.

If you love being near the ocean, being able to go on cruises anytime you want, being able to go to famous South Beach, meeting people from all over the world, then you should make Miami or any other the surrounding cities home.

Just my two cents - from my experience.

Definitely vist first. As with most places, life as a resident is different than that as a visitor.

I love it for what it is, because of the good things and in spite of the bad things.

Folks like Nicole and Silver obviously don't like it that much down here. Why people stay in a place where they're not happy is beyond me.

Just think hard, and consider what you have to lose. You can always move back!
