Trust me I don't, and they were never my friends in the first place. I really dislike the area more than anything in Miami-Dade. I did say though that there must be nice people there, but all I have seen are aggressive, "in your face" ghetto type people. This only applies to East Hialeah, not West Hialeah. Yeah I know, I'm sounding like the haters, sometimes I actually understand them a little. I just can't stand that area.

Gymbuff
I know two guys that were raised there, in one of those rental apartment buildings near East Ave, a short walking distance away from Hitching Post BBQ.
Both are now doctors. They went to live there in 1970.
Now they live in Coral Gables.
Hialeah was kind of nice, just like a Cuban town in Pinar del Rio.

What's the big deal with hatin' on Hialeah?
The people there are fine. I have friends there. WTF?
One of them is an attractive female freakin' Landscape Architect that works in Brickell - and who is out on the prowl and she's ready to go.
The other one is an up and coming business owner in financial services, who is poised to succeeed and expand out of Hialeah into other parts of the city (she's also attractive and quite sexy).
The other one is unemployed but she's still hot!
I've got more... the list is long.
Like I said before, Hialeah needs to plant more trees/vegetation, and it'll be a lot better.
Sure, the people can be hot-headed there, but it's passion dude. If you can find a Hialeah girl, and you treat her the right way she'll be paying you dividends for years to come and she's not ultimately materialistic.
But ya gotsta speak Spanish to get in with 'em ... just sayin'.

Aren't KC & The Sunshine Band from Hialeah?
Hialeah isn't the worst part of Miami (not by a long shot). It could certainly do with a makeover, a lot more trees, some space designated for public parks and better retail / amenities.

I would not live in Hialeah ... no it is not Beirut or even the Bronx ... just mostly working class , somewhat tacky , and with , many , many recently arrived Cuban immigrants and other working class Hispanics ..... I would seriously do my homework before considering Hialeah !!!
Also brush up on your Spanish , Cuban slang and Reggaeton lyrics !!

Hialeah does need more vegetation, and it would look so much more beautiful. For example there are many s****y areas in Coconut Grove but the narrow streets and lush vegetation change the character of the neighborhood completely. Hialeah reminds me of unattractive parts of Houston but it really doesn't matter because if you have a honey there and she's treating you the way you want, then who really cares about what the place looks like unless you settle down with her and buy a place in Hialeah - then you should fork over the dough and plant some trees.

Now regarding the area. I don't feel unsafe in this area when I go there, but I really dislike the scenery. Most of the businesses there are either Pawn shops, check cashing stores, food by the pound, and ugly businesses full of concrete. The people that I know grew up there all have in common that they are dishonest ghetto type people, but of course that's just me, I'm sure somewhere out there in East Hialeah, there are good people. It's the Hialeah culture at its fullest.

No doubt there are good hardworking people in Hialeah , just like there are burglar bars on most houses and Westland Mall is "Chonga Central " ... again it is not the Bronx or even Carol City ..... but I agree with you it is not my cup of tea .... put it this way if the OP is non-hispanic from Soiux City , Iowa he is in for a rude awakening and serious culture shock if he moves to Hiaelah
