Most of these people are grossly exagerrated. With that said, I don't know where you are coming from. I think that every big city has it's crime and bad areas. Miami isn't a place where I would like to raise a family. There is crime, there are places that are dirty, there is a lot of non-english speaking people, it's very congested, there are a lot of rude and selfish people.

There are also many nice areas if you could afford it. There are tons of nice people of ALL races.(some don't speak english). I guess that everything depends on how open-minded you are, where you are coming from and how much you can afford. Give us some more details on where you will be working and how much you can spend and we may be able to narrow down some areas to look into and others to avoid. Good Luck

Default It's okay but crowded

I used to live in North Bay Village when I worked in Miami. It is a nice community on the 79th Street Causway which has nice houses and apartments. Close to Miami Beach too. If you can move up to Broward County which is Pembroke Pines, or Hollywood.

Honestly, Miami isn't a place to raise kids, unless you are very active in your childrens lives. Last year I had two friends with kids leave Miami, to raise their kids in better places. Miami is a place for single, young people to party, not to raise a family.

I hate to admit it , but I tend to agree with doggiebus on this one . Miami and Miami Beach are great vacation spots and quite livable if you are single or a young couple with no kids .... raising a family that is another story .

It was still a nice place to raise a family until the late eighties

This is so true, through the eighties it was still fine to raise kids, it just changed in the 90's.

Default Miami is (gasp!) normal

Miami is surprisingly normal
Although I am not a resident, I visit several times a year for several days at a stretch. I like it so much that I am getting ready to move in a month or so.
There is definitely gross exaggeration on this forum.
People keep telling me to wait until I become a full time resident.
Then what
Am I going to be attacked, is the sky going to fall on me
Guess I will have to take that chance.
Ps, I also met some cool people on this forum
vpcats
tri-dad
elfyum (who surfaces ocassionally)
Jjninno(did I get that right)
miami vice-intelligent posts
Cixel, a miami basher but not really a bad sort if you get to know him

In real life too, I know lots of people from Miami that are well, nice

But I guess for some people Miami is the city they love to hate.
Oh well, everyone needs a hobby in life
Induhvidual
