Miami in the 80's and 90's was far worse, all those nice people driving their nice BMW's mercedez and rich cars would be jacked withing 2 days of having them. back in the day we use to be car theft capitol of the united states. our news reporter was even car jacked back in the day.

Because Miami is a cool city, and not everyone wants to live in a boring suburb like the rest of FL is. Miami is a great city if you have money and you can live in the "nice areas" of Miami Beach, Brickell, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, or Aventura. If you are poor, Miami is not so kind to you. Miami is the city that people love to hate, like New Orleans or New York City. You either love it or hate it.

People are attracted to Miami because of how friendly the residents are, the weather, and the entertainment.

The weather, food, beach, clubs, malls, women, proximity to orlando (universal, disney), concerts.... the city is not boring...

one of the few cities that has a port (cruises)...a gorgeous beach, an international airport, excellent weather, beautiful sky, diverse population, the most powerful banks (second to NYC)...

If you have a decent income, Miami is a great place to live..
