I don't understand your question? Why would Section 8 keep you from moving? As far as I know most Section 8 vouchers are distributed by the county you live in so I seriously doubt if you move back to Buffalo that county is going to pay for your voucher in New York.

Generally, the voucher holder is obligated for the first year on a new lease... after that it goes month to month for the family and 60 day notice with cause for the owner...

So... in effect, it's not that you can't move... it's that you have to wait for your lease to expire...

Section 8/Vouchers are primarily funded through HUD and as such they are now portable... so once you meet eligibility requirements... it is now much easier to transfer.

Default your lease term

from experience...you have to live your lease out. unless under unsafe circumstances...which, you not liking it there would not be a reason. however, if you are still in search of an apartment, you can ask them to transfer your voucher back to where you were. if you are now in an apartment you have to wait till your lease ends.

Only a person with a "choice voucher" can move any where in the US. However there are other programs too that limit what county and state you live in,but the poster is talking about her choice voucher. If your lease is up,move back if you can afford too. This place is very DEMONIC!
