Unless you decide to take a tour on the back streets, you should be fine driving on the main streets. I've been in that neighborhood a million times at night because I have a friend that lives there, gotten lost, fireworks shows for free, and have never encountered anything at all. It is rather dark and the streets are rather empty when there are no concert or games but that's pretty much it. No gangs doing drive by shootings on 199 st or 27 ave. Please.

So relax, just take the main streets.

Lake Lucerne and Scott Lake (as you can see) have some nice streets, Andover is actually nice all around ranging from working to middle and even upper middle class, and Norland is a little rougher around the edges but nobody will bother you. Miami Gardens EAST of 27th Ave and north of the Palmetto has a closer resemblance to Miramar than Carol City.

The true supporters of the Miami Dolphins are not Moderator cut: Flaming/Trolling : better word foreigners who make up more than half of Miami-Dade, but in fact Anglos who used to live in Miami... Why else would they build the stadium so close to Broward? To attract all the people who grew up in Miami but moved to Broward!

To be honest, the area around Landshark Stadium is not great, just like any other stadium...

...or they realized that Broward was growing substantially and thus wanted to serve the metro area as a whole.

I would say the Bunche Park area is very poor, even though it is not close to the stadium ,there are a lot of matchbox homes with some homes with few or no trees. I believe I remember somebody stating that a lot of people from the carribean living there.

No one should have a big problem driving through the area but lets not forget Miami Gardens has been statisically one of the more dangerous cities in the country. There crime problem is improving though ever since they got their own police dept. This is not about race or stereotypes this is just facts.

It turns out that I have tickets to see U2 in concert at Land Shark Stadium next summer.

And the stadium itself is in a place called Miami Gardens.

Is Land Shark Stadium located in a bad neighborhood in that Miami Gardens area?

One of my former co-workers who had moved to Ft. Lauderdale told me that the stadium is in a rough part of town.

What do you guys say?

(And how many times have they changed the name of that stadium?)

Land Shark itself isn't really dangerous; once you're inside the fences of the parking lots surrounding the stadium, you shouldn't be worried about much.

It isn't really in a bad area necessarily, but it isn't great either. To the north of the stadium is a very middle-class normal area, but if you approach from the south or east sides, it can get pretty sketchy along NW 27th Ave or NW 199th Street. That part of Miami gardens is what I'd call a "middle class black community," but some people get scared around there because it's 95% black. Personally i dont think you have much to be worried about, just don't leave the stadium on NW 27th Ave going south, because about 10 minutes south of there is one of the worst neighborhoods in the country, Opa-locka.

Thanks for all the tips, guys.

I'm actually flying into the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, not the Miami Airport.

What is the most convenient (and safest) route that I take to get to the stadium?

I-595 to Turnpike southbound to 27th Ave exit. If you don't want to pay a toll, you can take I-595 out to University Drive and add an extra 15-20 minutes to the drive and drive through good to okay areas. "Safety" should not be that big of a concern if you have ever been to a larger city before. For inexpensive hotels, a good area to stay is Miami Lakes or Miramar out by I-75. If you want to make a little vacation out of it, stay by the beach in Sunny Isles, Hallandale or Hollywood. Avoid the temptation to stay at the El Palacio, which is the only nearby hotel, as you will end up driving either to the beach or to Miami Lakes or Pembroke Pines anyway just to get some food.
