Moving to Miami - horse-riding
We might be moving to Miami. My wife and daughter are keen horse-riders. Can one live in the suburbs of Miami and have easy access to horses? Is their a rural community on the outskirts of Miami where one can rent/buy a small property to keep a couple of horses? What is commuting to Miami center like if one lives on the outskirts?

ive seen people with horses in the everglades around long pine key. ive seen people with horses around the cutler ridge area over by fairchild gardens. there are lots of horses out in the redlands out by the agriculture.
ocala is really florida's center for horses but i think you might be able to find a spot somewhere down here just fine.
generally come with the expectation that all miami commutes are bad. its all very unpredictable.

There are places in the Davie area, fewer now than before. One place is on Orange Drive just due west of Hiatus Road. This is in Broward County, though.

There are places known as "horse country" but I call them Billionaires row because they cost at least 10 times what they are worth. You won't buy one for less than 1 MIllion dollars. Good areas if you have the $$$$ are horse country ( Kendall-Bird Road, 118AVE-127 AVE) and in Broward Sunshine Ranches ( I-75 - Flamingo Road, Griffin RD - Sheridan ST) There are others but remember, space is extremely overpriced in south Florida.

Two places Davie and Southwest Ranches in Broward. In Dade two areas one is a small area west of the Turnpike north of Sunset and south of Bird in western Kendall and then the Redlands.
The place in West Kendall is the closest to downtown Miami, but it is west. Commute to downtown is probably about 45 minutes if not longer, and the other three you are looking at least an hour 15 minutes if not longer. These are in rush hour.
Have you thought about Palm Beach they have some horse country, some nice neighborhoods have stables, paddocks, polo areas, etc.The Polo's are an example, you can probably find a place to rent in there. They have many different types of homes also in there.

Good morning! There are several places in Miami-Dade (and Broward) that you can have horses. There is a section of Miami-Dade called "Horse Country", which runs from about Bird Road to Sunset, and from about the Turnpike to SW 127 AV.
There is also a small section in Kendall (around 97 AV and 104 Street) that still allows horses if you have the acres.
Redlands is beautiful and not too far outside the suburbs.
Davie is just across the Miami/Broward line, but is another excellent community that still allows horses.
Feel free to email me if you need more specific information.

What about Homestead? I haven't been there in years, but I faintly remember people owning ranches with horse stables.

Remember you will need at least one million dollars to buy in any of those places now. I hope that you have a significant source of income.
