I just wanted to know if the Passion nightclub @ the Seminole is really hot, in terms of dancing, partying and hanging out on a Friday or Saturday night? (FYI, I know about this place only because I listen to the 97.3 on the internet at work.)

Also, do Miamians generally go to places like the Biltmore, or Mandarin Oriental for a local weekend getaway, or are those mostly rich tourist traps?

And is there any club in Miami that has a dance floor featuring lasers, or patrons who bring glowsticks? (Like that club in Bad Boys II. Last time I was in Miami, I didn't see a club like that, but would like to visit one.)

Thanks!

I can only answer the first question. Yes Passion @ the Seminole has a good reputation. But that is located in Broward County. You might want to post that question on the Fort Lauderdale forum, and you might get some more responses.

As for everything else, I haven't done the South Beach club scene in a while, so I'll defer to some other posters.

I will say that an up-and-coming nightlife area is Brickell. Not so much with the club scene, but the bar scene is very good there.

Err, the Mandarin and Biltmore are both upscale hotels...don't know how much of a getaway that would be.

I have heard Passion is decent but it is no South Beach. It is not real Miami Night Life.

As for the glowsticks I have been to a decent amount of clubs in Miami and the answer is no. I guess maybe a special techno party of something would have that but I have not seen glowsticks since middle school.
I would not call the Mandarin or Biltmore Tourist traps they are very nice hotels but I do not know of many people who travel there for a weekend if they already live in Miami. Miami is a small city land wise it is easy to get to the beach for the day and back to the house. Weekend getaways for people in Miami are more Key West, Naples, the Bahamas.

It's a good place to dance - there are several clubs @ the Seminole to choose from, too.

The Biltmore and the Mandarin are pretty expensive for weekend getaways...The Keys are more "getaway" friendly.

The only places I've seen glowsticks are raves...people don't take glowsticks to clubs anymore...at least I haven't seen any in a really long time.

Thanks!
