Dade-Monroe Express Bus Drivers Refuse To Stop On US 1 (Miami: live, design)

Hello,

My first post is, sadly, a gripe. Our county (Miami-Dade) advertises that it has a bus route to MM 50 in Marathon Key. A great idea! However, the bus operates on a "flag down" basis. In other words there are supposed to be NO designated stops. You simply walk to the curb, where the bus can pull over safely, and you get picked up. Not true.

Here is a copy of an e-mail I sent to Harry Rackard, the director of the Dade-Monroe Express Bus Route, today. He seems like a good fellow and I hope this can be sorted out, since we need the route as promised....

Thanks for your time and again, this IS a gripe but the promise of the Dade-Monroe Express is too great to simply gloss over when it can easily be fixed. Depending on Mr. Rackard's leadership ability it could be fixed as early as tomorrow...I'll let you know.....

I haven't personally experienced this. One of my friends, however, has. I am planning to make a trip down the keys via bus, ( just for fun), and the trip would be quite a let down if i didn't even get picked up at U.S. 1 in Key Largo, where i live, not to mention if i were to be passed by in Marathon trying to make my way back up to Key Largo.

I just finished looking over the site for Monroe/Dade express and it clearly states on that site that pick up is upon hailing the bus in Monroe. If that isn't the case, then i would think the counties would put in designated bus stops at certain intervals. That would make sense wouldn't it? i don't really like the idea of being passed by a bus when flagging it down and having to know the illegitimate, secret bus stop locations just to catch a ride and the public transit. I think this problem needs to be fixed as well.
