Was crack even around in the 80's? I thought the cocaine of the 80's was the expensive powered form. I thought cheap crack cocaine came later-- in the 90's.

Nope, it came in the mid-80's. The powdered expensive form was more popular in the late-70's early-80's. Mid-80's to early-90's crack exploded.

LOL. Why don't you interview some of the crackheads on 79th street? They are hilarious.

I dont think it was "crack" that was big in Mia at the time, but more so pure cocaine.

Crack was a big epidemic in NYC in the 80's tho and it spread all over nationwide around that time.

Profits from Cocaine ( Colombian ) is what built most of Brickell - today, with exception to what Related recently developed; last 10 years. 75% of drug money today continues to be filtered in to expenive Miami Dade real estate. Sad but true .... We blame ourselves, because us Americans are the #1 users of Cocaine. [ worldwide. Spain is #2 ].

Petty theft increased as well as strong arm robbery. I know a few people who did or are doing time for stealing to buy crack.
