I was moving to Marietta, GA, but now plans changed and I might be moving to South Florida. If we move to Florida, I will be working in Doral. After researching this forum and other websites, we decided Weston was a good place for us to live due to good schools and safety. My only concern is traffic. How bad is the morning/afternoon commute from Weston to Doral?? Google maps says it's 38 minutes, but I'm pretty sure traffic will add some time to that figure. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

We are also open to other suggestions on safe places with good schools. Thanks.

Weston to Doral should run about an hour with traffic...and that's on a good day.

But it will feel like 2 when you consider the aggravation.

Weston to Doral is only about 30 miles. If you have to commute during the regular rush hour count on it taking about an hour, sometimes a little more, sometimes much less. If you can commute during off hours it will take around 30-40 minutes.

I had to make that drive for almost three years ... if I left my home in Weston at 6:50 am ... I would be in Doral at 7:30 am ... if I left Weston at 7:05 the commute would stretch to one hour .. so if you leave for work before 7:00 am ... your commute should not be more than 40 minutes barring any accidents ... I presume you would do I-75 South to the Turnpike South then to NW 41 st ?

If you take I-75 to 826 and have to go through the nightmare that is Hialeah .. you are looking at well over one hour .

I would look in Weston , West Davie and Cooper City ..all three are safe , very nice and have good schools . Stay just north of Pembroke Pines and you will be fine .

At morning rush hour, I would give this one about an hour on the worst day (with accidents) and about 35-40 minutes on the average (busy, 70 MPH flow), although you can add 20 minutes to every mile east you drive down 41st St if you aren't there before 7. In the afternoon, 45-55 minutes is pretty consistent (assuming no accidents), with most of the traffic coming from the local area.

Great Post

Traffic in Miami is very unpredictable. Leaving your home 10-15 minutes later could add 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to your commute. I would also use the Turnpike as it is the fastest route. It is more expensive as the Tollpike has tolls everywhere but it is worth it.

Weston to Doral is an I-75 commute. It doesn't make sense to take the turnpike. Look at a map.

^^^Depending on what time of the day it is, the turnpike can be a better choice then going to the Palmetto and then to 75.

You do realize that from I-75 you have to take either the Turnpike South on ramp or the 826 Palmetto Expressway South on ramp ... not sure what map you are looking at .. but you can access Doral from either route .. Turnpike is nicer , better flow and less lunatics then the Palmetto and again you DO NOT have to go through Hialeah !!!
