Default Miami is for Vacations only.

PGirl;

"I know one person in Miami, but I like to be kind of a homebody anyway." At your salary staying at home will result in a mediocre rental in a mediocre area with mediocre emotional results. I have lived and worked in several cities/suburbs in the US. Miami to say the least was NOT one of the easiest areas to reside.

I was relocated to Miami for work and lived both in Downtown Miami and Coral Gables for 2.5 years. I had a salary far exceeding yours and also considered myself a homebody. Outside of a ridiculous commute to downtown from somewhere like Pembrooke or Coral Springs; I believe Coral Gables is probably the closest community like something of the mid-west....and that is not even close.

As an anglo, a minority (<10% anglo Miami-Dade) as you will be, I was not accustomed to the full time Spanish language (eventhough I lived in Phoenix for work), but more importantly nor the AGGRESSIVELY RUDE ATTITUDE EVERYWHERE - ALL THE TIME. West Coast cities, and I have been to all of them, are no where near as rude as the 'Wang of America'.

Miami is over-hyped/over-rated, the culture is best left for vacations so you may leave on your own terms and return to America.

Good Luck.

Hialeah - If I were you I would spend a week there walking the streets, going to lunch, dinner, looking for houses/rentals before you even consider talking a position in that school district. I guarantee unless you are on some kind of social teaching reform mission, you will not relocate.

I relocated for work to Miami for 2.5 years. Hialeah is nasty and you will be disrespected in and outside of work every day.

Where is Pembrook? I have never heard of it. And for Coral Springs, think "Northeast", definitely not midwest. For midwest, think Davie, SW Ranches, Cooper City, etc and those are way closer than Coral Springs.

Pembrook is a secret society that only the chosen few know of. Do not mention it again.

Be serious, a young working professional would be high to live in Davie, SW, or Cooper. I would imagine she is moving to Miami because of her friend and the lifestyle around SoBe/Miami. Then again - what do I know.....I left there as fast as my company would let me to go back to America.

where do you guys live in miami that you cant go outside after 10pm at night? you guys are crazy. i live in a $850 800 sq foot apartment just 20 minutes north of homestead and i can go outside 24 hours a day with my 8 lb dog, so its not like shes providing me protection. im female. i live alone. and ive lived on a 32k salary plus about 8k commission for 3 years now. i have lots of nice clothes, go on vacation, and commute an hour a day so i pay a lot in gas and i am perfectly happy. stop putting down miami and what you think is "ghetto" ...maybe u got to grow up in a place like boca and are in the 1%, but most of us americans did not and live "ghetto" aka normal living just fine. come on down to miami girl, the weather is fine
