Me and my fiance, (im 27 and shes 25, white) are thinknig of moving into this area, theres a place for rent that seems like it would work for us.

This is not a wonderful area. You need to come down and check out the area. You might want to check such places as Realtor dot com and search on their rentals in Hollywood. Hollywood has some really nice areas and some that are really rundown.
You might also want to be a bit circumspect when stating your race. This is a huge melting pot of many different races and ethnic groups which adds to the beauty of living in south Florida. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately my job and situation doesnt really allow me to get down there very easily.
We have kind of a larger dog (~80lbs) so we cant really rent an apartment (which seems to be realtor.com's forte). We found a 2 + Bedroom house with a fenced in backyard/pool for 1500/month, and we were hoping that it would be a good fit.

I will be hard to rent a house for $1,500 in a decent area in Hollywood. I lived there 10 years. That area that you pointed, is not a good area. look east of US1.
Hollywood has a lot of trashy areas and good areas are expensive.
If you looka little more west, I will rather rent in Pembroke pines than west Hollywood. Money wise.

I see.
In all reality, we're just trying to get a nice home in a nice neighborhood, thats driving distance (tolerable) to NOVA's Oceanagraphic center
which is at
1800 S Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
Bad thing is, we had a place all lined up but someone got it before we could get the lease signed

You need to try a bit harder to find a nice home if your first pick was the one in Hollywood in the original post.

lol nah that wasnt our first pick, that was the "well crap, maybe we should just get into one and hate it, but at least we'd be down there" type deal
so the consensus is that east hollywood and dania beach are a much better option?

Check out Residences at Bayview (not by a bay though) 1631 S. Federal Hwy, Ft. Lauderdale. Within walking distance, and allows dogs. I haven't seen this place, though. Prices are $1200 - 1800, it looks like.
