the best times of miami were 80-ies! All this Miami Vice and Scarface stuff, drug wars, great music, men wearing pastel suits and carrying guns, drivin' exotic cars. Shooting every day, murder capital of the USA Tons of Cuban and other latin refugees, snorting yayo in glamorous neon-lighted night clubs. Colombian cowboys murdering each other in broad daylight!Corrupt cops, stealing their merchandise.Greedy attorneys getting their piece of action.Dark-colored G-boys,supplying latin dictators with weapons Hot women, getting their tan on sunny beaches! It looked like a cocaine hurricane and Miami was in the epicenter of it!

Miami in 1957 ???
I am not that old....not even close... haha.. my father was born in 1958 and he already has gray hair.
This question should be answered by very old people over 63 years old.... kinda Hugh Hefner hehe

Holywood destroys their minds, just as Addie said.

Leovigildo, this is not only Hollywood stuff, this was FOR REAL! Miami was like a Dodge City back in these days with helluva opportunities to make quick money very fast and simple. This is the thing Miami apparently lacks today, besides condo-building frenzy. I got tons of stories and accounts from different Miami-native people, telling me about amazing, fascinating and scary things that happened in Magic City back in the days of Vice era. Yeah...two decades ago Miami had its own unique style and charm which it doesnt have nowadays with all this freakin manhattanization,third-world mentality, people speaking only Spanish, terrible traffic jams and so on...

I lived in Miami through all those years.
No, it was not like Miami Vice.
Believe me, those two metrosexual nerds would have lasted one day in the Miami Police Department.
That "charm" was crafted in Holywood catered to gullible and ignorant audiences.
As to natives, the only meaningful native in those years was the seagull in the "Miami, see it like a native" poster.
Hollywood creates absurd realities according to their agendas.

Hollywood had little to do with the "invention"of the 80-ies era, different filmmakers just interpreted that time in their own unique way. You can't blame them on it,pal. If you think that our reality was created by Hollywood, then watch DOCUMENTARY film "Cocaine cowboys"-it tells enough about those times. People who were part of the Big Game of 80-ies cannot lie. And for the those "metrosexual nerds" you've mentioned...Cops from "Miami Vice" are the best depiction of 80-ies era cops,so please,be respectful to the Michael Mann's legacy. You should watch this TV-show with more attention to understand it better.

You should go out and meet people and forget about TV-shows.
TV is make believe, not reality
The cops from Miami Vice would have been considered affirmative Gay foreigners in the Miami Police.

Ha Ha Ha Ha.... that was hilarious!
I think the same when I watch CSI Miami and Hollywood movies.
The Miami concept portrayed by Hollywood is so different to the real Miami.
