If u find a descent job with ...relative stability, the climate & the landscape are so charming that psychologically u will definitely feel better off..

They key factor is the jobs...One salary will barely make it,u will have to make so many compromises...

With 2 salaries + "paid in sunshine",u will enjoy it...

For best value for money,I suggest the big 4 in TX...Houston,Dallas,San Antonio,Austin...

$ 1100 gets u a...palace (...figure of speech...) in Houston...

Miami it's not for the poor or th middle-class just made for the rich... A regular salaried person can't enjoy the things Miami has to offer cuz bills comes first... Employers pay and do whatever they feel like without respecting the employees rights and laws... The only thing I have to said I get paid too little for what I do. This is the main problem in Miami, salaries too low no matter what area you are...

Thanks!

We have actually been looking at Dallas so we might be better off considering those places more seriously. I guess they are no Miami, but it sounds like a Miami move would be a bigger gamble than a Dallas move.

PS - Sorry for the thread hijack.

Which is kind of interesting, as that is the main problem throughout all of Latin America.

I don't believe Miami is 'made for the rich' at all. Lower and middle income families can have just as good of a life here. It's all about pride and what you're willing to do to make it all work.

It would help to know what field you all are in to know why it's such a stuggle/why moving here would be such a bad idea.

As discussed on another thread here, places like Allapattah and Little Havana are livable. If you can only afford those places, make the best of it. Put up a fence around your property, plant shrubs and flowers and create an oasis for yourself.
