Default Gang specific areas to avoid? Or are they everywhere?

This could be a very dumb question, so please forgive me if I offend anyone by mistake.

But, are there areas of Miami that gangs aren't active in?

Or is the question are there areas that they are active in?

Thanks for your help.

Here in Australia we have clearly defined areas and I have never come across gang activity. Just wondering if it is the same in the US, and Miami?

Appreciate your help

miami gangs dont attack random people, except in the poorest parts of dade/miami, but most of the middle class and lower middle class areas, the gangs dont do alot to bring attention to them selves. they just really sell drugs, and attack other gang members every once and a while.

Not really. I don't know of any area that you should "avoid" because it's marked gang territory. In California is so easy to identify gangs with all that color nonsense but over here a group of 5 or 6 teenagers who just decide to call themselves a gang become one, but over here is nothing like California. It's almost like these kids are trying too hard to be "tough" guys and they are just petty thieves that once in a blue moon kill each other.

There are areas with higher crime and should be avoided in general, but they actually tend to be older criminals like some parts of Overtown, liberty city, Opa Locka but you shouldn't end up there and if you do get lost, chances are you will be just fine as long as you don't act carelessly. I've driven in those areas during the day, sometimes you see police activity but that's pretty much it.

once in a while them shooting at rival gangs causes stray bullets to kill innocent civilians : Shooting kills 15-year-old girl, wounds 3 others - Miami-Dade - MiamiHerald.com (http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/01/25/1444228/shooting-kills-15-year-old-girl.html - broken link)

Sometimes they go on initiation sprees and rape : Gang rape of Haitian Immigrant & 12 years son beating in Miami Housing project - Foire d'Opinions Haitiennes (http://www.haitiwebs.com/forums/diaspora_news/45314-gang_rape_haitian_immigrant_12_years_son_beating_m iami_housing_project.html - broken link)

Usually they keep to themselves and violence is amongst rival gangs. Usually.

One episode of "Gangland", a documentry series on gangs, was set in Miami and talked about Zoe Pound, a Hatian gang. I forget which areas they operated in but, since they are a Hatian gang, I would assume it would be in areas of high Hatian concentration. Their big thing seemed to be knowing which boats coming in to Miami had drugs on them and then boarding and torturing the crews until they gave up the drugs, which Zoe Pound would then sell on the streets. Not nice guys.

They operated out of Little Haiti. Although they still might be around, they're not like they were in the past.

I would avoid anything with Perrine in the name as well as ones already mentioned, Liberty City, Opa Locka, West Coconut Grove, parts of Little Haiti, and Overtown.

From what my Miami connects tell me, Miami really isn't too much on that gang stuff. You just have groups of dudes that rep their hood & block, and occasionally beef with rival neighborhoods. Miami cats are simply about hustling/getting money. Of the gangs that do operate in Miami, they're low-key. I do remember the Boobie Boys & John Doe gang that ran Miami back in the 80's to early/mid-to-late 90s. They were warring with each other and people were dying like nothing. 15th and 18th Aves were no joke back then. After the Boobie Boys and John Does were taken off the streets, Miami gang activity has largely dissipated. As stated before, Miami isn't too big on gangs, it's just every man for himself.

I don't know if they are a lot of gang in Miami, but I came from France and I really think France is more unsecure than Miami, you can walk near strange people (maybe from gang??) and they don't bothered you. But I think exept Miami Beach, be carefull when you are in the street after midnight because we never know.

I think the only neighborhoods that really have gang problems are the neighborhoods that you wouldn't be looking to live in anyway.
