You go away for 4 weeks and....

STUP, I think you can easily find what you're looking for anywhere in the Kendall area, just have to start looking. I would tend to say to look around 184th and north, anywhere around 137th Avenue, in that area would probably be good. You can skip the expressway, esp once they start charging, who wants another fee to pay???
Thanks Doggiebus and Eldemila..appreciate your replies
I know my wife works @QuailRoost/turnpike but i have no idea abt that area..as I said we stay 40 miles up in Davie,Broward and i dont generally travel outside home

since we have decided to move to Kendall area so that her commute will be less, can you direct me to some good communities in there and the price range

i am thinking of 2X2 hownhome..two storeyed so that i can stay far from kid's wailing(2 week old now) since I work from home

What would be the ballpark rental and any good communities in the area..easy to search by the community name than streets as I went to visit that place only once on my wife's joining day

all suggestions are welcome and appreciate your replies

Quail Roost and the Turnpike is a little tough area. You could look just north of there. The Country Walk area, Sable Chase community area in Kendall, Calusa and then you have the Hammocks a little further west, those are the larger communities. There are many places in between these communities, so you should drive around. I am not 100% sure what the prices are now, but for $1400 or less you should be able to find a 2/2 townhome.

Doggie is right about his suggestions. There are some others, some I can't remember or know their names, others I can think of are Deerwood, Kendall Breeze (there's two locations) Hampshire Homes, Amaretto, The Crossings. Devonaire has townhomes, but they are one story.

It's well worth to come down for the day and drive around. Prior, I'd look on Craigslist and The Flyer in the area and then go see what the area and homes look like.

I would tend to say, from 184th St, look west of 127th Avenue. Around 120th St, you can look West of 117th Avenue. I wouldn't go much more north than Killian, then you're getting a little farther out there and the traffic is horrendous!

I'll be looking to rent out my house after the first of the year if you're interested

Thank you n many thanks to doggiebus
your suggestions are highly welcome and i will try to drive ard and see
our 3 week old kid(first) is keeping us busy..My wife, though not working now is kept busy between kid and calling employer/insurance upteen times..she delivered the day she took up new employment

I presently stay in Davie(Pine Island Ridge/ 595 and PineIsland Rd) in a condo for a rent of $1000 pm furnished. We do have some family support(inlwas baby sit now and my parents will do the same for 5 months after July)..so employer's day care is out of question for the next 8 months..so only wife needs to drive(she works form home 2 days a week). She has an option of joining company vanpool but that will be from Pembroke Pines and Miami Gardens area.

I'd prefer a 2-storeyed town home to condo because the kid will start wailing and a 2 storeyed house might be better choice..since I work from home and attend lots of requirements calls(I am a software engineer as is my wife) and my inlaws/parents will be living with us in the next 7-8 months

So I am now reevaluating..Should we move to Kendall/PineCrest area and pay extra rent or find a decent townhome in Broward for $1200 ..i will also try finding a proper office job and then reevaluate the idea of moving

Though I'd like to move to Miami..the inertia of change is holding me..I have been living in the same zip code from the time we are married

so looks like 1200 will get a good townhome in broward vs 1400 in Pinecrest..Appreciate your suggestions and i will drive ard the ard to look at the communities in Kendall shortly

There aren't really any townhomes in the Pinecrest area, at least none I know of, and if there are, it would be hard to find at $1400.00 a month.

Personally, if your wife is going to be working down here, I would have her close to where you live, not such a far drive. Not only is there at least a good hour drive without traffic (I drive to Broward and University at least once a week, without traffic, it's around an hour) but that will be more since her job is more south AND I assume she'd be going during rush hour.

Take in to consideration that you have a new baby (CONGRATS) Things happen, I would much rather be close to home than have to try and "fly" home if there's an emergency and knowing you'll be luck to make it there in an hour. Also think about the wear-and-tear on the car, more gas money, tolls (depending on how she'd come in, it may cost her a few dollars each way, each day) and probably other things it's too early for my brain to think about.

As far as change...you're young you can easily adapt. We like Broward better than Dade too, but the area you are in is similar to down here, you'll just hear more Spanish than you will up there and the drivers suck a little more down here. Better shopping up there. But, you have to do what you feel is right, suggestions and opinions can be given, but it's YOUR and your wifes decision what's best for you. Just weigh it all out and look at all the possibilities before you make a move.

Look, all "towns" have good & bad areas.

Kendall is pretty big. There are some nice areas but the area near Kendall Drive (specially in West Kendall) is crowded with extremely rude Hispanics, and I can say this because I'm of Hispanic descent.

Homestead, I feel is the worse of the 4 towns because it is very low income in most areas. This makes rent cheaper but lower income families statistically have more crime.

Palmetto Bay for the most part is really nice, almost in its entirety. There are hardly any apartment bldgs so this helps with having middle to high income families. It's very clean & patrolled very well by the police, keeping crime at a low.

And finally, Cutler Bay, where I live, has both a really nice area as well as a bad area. For the most part, everything East of Franjo Road & North of Old Cutler Road is really nice. Then it gets progressively worse in the opposite direction and the further South you go after 200 St, the worse it gets.

Good luck & hope this helps!

Hampshire homes were built by hurricane bait builders so be careful. Devon-aire across the turnpike is a step up from there.
