Hi, I am a nursing student at a very well respected nursing school up north in Pennsylvania. I will graduate in 18 months and will be moving to South Florida immediately after graduation. My husband has a great job already in Ft Lauderdale. I am here in Pennsylvania with our two young children until I finish... I would just like to have an idea what the job market is looking like right now for RN's in South Florida. We are willing to live just about anywhere from Coral Gables, all the way up to Boca Raton, and anywhere in between, such as Aventura, Hollywood etc...any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

I don't know the details about nursing job prospects in the area aside from the fact that they are not as good as they were previously. Financially, most of the hospitals I am aware of are acting cautiously. Having said that, I would say that if you apply, there are certain ones that I would choose to work for over others - Any of the Baptist Hospitals, Miami Children's, University of Miami Hospital (Univ of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Cancer Center, Anne Bates Leach/Bascom Palmer), Memorial Hospital (Broward County), Mt Sinai (Miami Beach), Cleveland Clinic at Weston.

I think that as an RN, your job prospects are better than most other job segments. There are a ton of hospitals in the area. I do think that if you can a get at one of the above, it would be good for your early career development.
