Very sad, such a tragedy. I pass by that place on my way to work. It's in the same shopping strip as Vicky Bakery. Never been there, but it's hard to believe something so awful happened there. My prayers and condolences all around.

What a tragedy.

I have to admit, as soon as I saw this story, I said to myself "I must be crazy to be thinking about moving back to Miami".

This kind of thing happens all over the country, the world. Not just Miami. Coulda been anywhere. Look at what just happened in Hunan, China - guy walked into a court and shot 3 judges with a submachine gun, then killed himself. You just never know.

According to the Herald, he killed his wife because she had left him. Supposedly, he blamed her co-workers at the restaurant for what happened between them, which is why he singled certain people out. My heart breaks for the families of all the victims.

Yes...good point. In Los Angeles we had an ex-porn star kill a guy with a Machette and then fall or jump to his death from a cliff when he was cornered by the police. Makes for a good sensational news story but this is NOT a reflection of what it is like to live in LA on a day to day basis.

YET, the CRIME RATE (including HOMICIDES) is at 40 YEAR LOWS in Los Angeles.

Don't let local news (which always hypes crime stories) paint a DISTORTED picture of reality in your town.

I agree 100%. The local crime rate in Miami and surrounding areas is going DOWN.

Random acts of violence happen. This CANNOT be stopped. But to equate this as somehow a result of the actual city of Miami is just ridiculous. I guess next you're going to say that Columbine is 3 times more dangersous than Miami because at the Columbine mass shooting 12 people were killed instead of 4.

While this story is no doubt tragic I think the fact that 4 people being killed is "the city's worst mass murder in its history" puts it in perspective.

Last year in May here in DC seven people were killed over a 9 hour period. It got so bad that the mayor set up check points at the high risk neighborhoods and only let people who lived there in or out.

We are talking about neighborhoods in AMERICA where if you don't live there the police would stop you and not let you in. And this wasn't just because of one demented person this was from systematic violence.

When cops start setting up road blocks in Hialeah and only let people with an ID that has a Hialeah address then you can start blaming Miami.

Killings subside in D.C.'s Trinidad neighborhood - Washington Times

If anything stories like this should make us stop and consider someone elses point of view before we treat them like a jerk. You never know what someone else is capable of.
