How many understand Cap & Trade and what this means for America and our manufacturing segment?

For those who are unfamiliar, the idea is that every country is allowed to produce so much pollution - that is the cap. When a country exceeds this cap, they must purchase pollution credits from other countries who haven't reached their cap.

The top 3 most populated countries are China (not participating), India (not participating) and the US (participating). Obviously since we have the World's 3rd largest population and are so prosperous, we emit the most pollution.

So, in reality what Cap & Trade means, is that America will be giving away billions of tax dollars to 3rd world countries (many of which are ruled by war lords). Of course the other participating countries will simply lie about their emissions anyway.

Not only will vast sums of American wealth be globally redistributed, but the cost of power in the US will increase so dramatically that we will no longer be able to manufacture anything in this country and all product costs will skyrocket due to additional transportation costs.

Mexico is not participating so it is likely all manufacturing will shift to Mexico. Hopefully, they will be as lenient with their border policies as we have when we all will need to sneak into Mexico to find work.

And that my friends is Cap & Trade.

Sounds about right. $8/gallon gas pricing is a real possibility. That might not mean as much if you live in a densely populated area with no commute but for anybody who does have a long commute -- the job may simply not be worth it anymore.

You'll find lots of businesses going under and as a result much higher unemployment if this passes. Heating/air pricing will also skyrocket if this is passed. There's nothing good about this if you're an average citizen -- the only people who will make money on this are those that are setting up the infrastructure behind it and those that will get commissions on the transactions. It's national suicide if our Congress passes this.

It's a bad idea. If the money just went to the federal government as a tax at least it would stay in the U.S. It would be better for our government to just open up Yucca Mountain and encourage nuclear power.

I'd be for cap n' tax on one condition: the Third World has to suffer under it too. We'll all live in poverty and eat cat food together. When places like Mexico and the godless commies in Red China have this millstone around their necks as well, I won't be so opposed, but as long as the Third World won't do it, why should we?

You might be right but I have to wonder. Since we have so many emissions regulations. China and other booming 3rd world countries are pretty much unregulated.

These socialist want to destroy the prosperity that took over 200 years to build up. If this insanity goes through and we tolerate it, then we will deserve to go down.

Anyone who thinks a single other country aside from America will actually play by the rules must be smoking crack.

This is nothing more than a plan by ignorant radical Leftists to redistribute (steal) money from America's "greedy corporations" (the producers who make our lives possible) and give it to the poor in other countries.

I fully believe that such a plan is so deliberately designed to harm our country that it qualifies as treason.

Yes and no.

Many on the far left are heavily invested in "green" technology.

Gore is one name that comes to mind.
