Up here in the tip of the lower we will be near peak colors 2wks from this weekend.

I'm in no hurry to rake leaves. One nice thing about raking leaves up here, firearm deer season is right around the corner.

A bit of color showing in old or stressed maples, sumac leaves, the Virginia creeper around my house, but really very minor color so far in Leelanau. Won't be long if the chilly weather keeps up.

My estimation is the colors in the US 131 Corridor from Reed City to Cadillac are now at 30%. Here are 2 pics from Reed City taken today.

This wont be a peak weekend but it's definately pretty. Weather this weekend is forecasted for heavy rain thurs-sat after which it will turn sunny.

It's the warm days and cold nights that accelerate the color change. It's been warm in the evenings and one reason why we still have as much green as we do in our area.

Tomorrow is going to be very, very windy and with the combined heavy rains all day long we probably wont have much of a color tour this year with all the leaves stripped from the trees.

You're telling me.

I have a recliner, and a bank of windows looking over the bank down to the river, and this old growth forest. WOW.

This will be an amazing story when it's done. Not sure who here is of the Christian persuasion, but since I am, I'll say I think He meant for us to be here. The way the right resources have been handed to us so effortlessly. There are some interesting developments on the house hunting front too, but... I always hate talking about things before they happen. Stay tuned. This whole move has been one miracle after another.

And this? This is quite the way to fall madly, passionately in love with Michigan.
