We'll be moving soon to Ocqueoc. We're fairly heavy readers, and are curious about the library system. Does anybody have any experience with the Presque Isle District Library System? If so, could you please share their experience, good or bad?

Thanks in advance!

Dave, my mother often uses the Alpena Library and she says that most of the libraries in NE Michigan, and she thought Ocqueoc was included, belong to a consortium; Northland Library. If you are searching for a particular book, you can make a request and they will search for the book among other member libraries.

I do know that many of the little communites around Alpena can access that library directly, or used to be able to. Not sure if Ocqueoc was ever part of that. I would definitely see if you could access Roger's City or Cheboygan libraries.

It appears that Rogers City, Grand Lake, Millersburg, Onaway, and Posen libraries make up the Presque Isle District. I was hoping to hear that they're tied together, with reserve capabilities between them. That is the same setup we have here in the Columbus, Ohio area. Good stuff! Thanks.

Most of the libraries are in a system that allows them to borrow books from any other library in the system. I can find out what the system is called if you want to contact your libarary and find out (My wife is a librarian).

CJ, it is the Northland library system; my mother uses it all the time.

I use the inner library loan system all the time. I'm not in this area, but it's statewide so it's very easy to obtain books no matter how small a local library is. It's not just inside Michigan either. I've gotten books from other states. You just submit your request then it goes in the system. When the book is found it gets sent.
