Did you know that in your state obesity costs the tax payers over $3 billion dollars! ( Obesity surge costs Michiganians $3 billion - 03/21/04 ) I don't want to pay for all these fat useless people that are too lazy to work. I have no remorse for these lazy people that are fat. Michigan has some of the most ugliest, fattest, people I have ever seen. There is a huge difference between Michigan and Florida. Just go to Florida and you can see the difference in how fit the people are. I heard people up here say it's a cold state but that's an excuse because Colorado is one of the most fit states in the country. Michigan is full of people looking for free handouts from the government and I'm happy that George W. Bush limits these useless programs. It's a pretty simple system -- you go to school, you get a degree, you get a high paying job, and you get a good healthcare program. And when Rudy gets in 2008, he isn't going to give in to these lazy bums in Michigan that cry about factories being shut down.
Well Said!

They should all be shut down and we should all live off the federal government because people are too stupid to take care of themselves.

As for Michael Moore, he has a liberal socialist agenda that would make a communist proud!
I shouldn't take the bait, but I really, really hate when people make these kinds of statements that people who need help are too stupid or lazy to take care of themselves. People like us can't take care of ourselves at the moment, but it sure as hell isn't for lack of trying. MI has the highest unemployment in the nation right now (still) - are you saying that all those unemployed people are too stupid to find jobs? Surely you can't be.

I am going to give you more credit than you give yourself. You are taking care of yourself and family. It might not be to your standard, but you have a home, food and utilities.
Society does not have a role to ensure a lifestyle.

I think this thread should be duplicated on the Politics Forum. The comments are appropriate to both Michigan and to Politics.

I think the basic problem with our government is that the entire population is not properly represented. Individuals were once represented by a political party are no longer considered because the specialty lobbies like the lobby representing Digger1 have bought the parties. The “well driller lobby” only represents the need of well drillers.

Aside – This is not an attack on Digger1. I admire people that have found the niche and can successfully operate their own business. I applaud your carrying health insurance for you and your employees but surely you realize that your premiums are inflated by the waste, fraud and abuse of the system perpetrated by the insurance, drug and hospital companies. I doubt if a nationalized system with proper cost controls and competitive bidding for service would cost you more.

Back to the point – the lobbies are the real constituents of the politicians and have achieved their power by a system of legal, shady and positively illegal campaign contributions and influence buying. To be successful a politician must raise millions of dollars to buy the advertising needed to “win” an election. Nobody contributes large amounts of money without expecting special consideration. Lobbying for special consideration is held to be “free speech” when it is little more than formalized corruption.

I think that Michigan is symptomatic of a soon to be national depression as more and more of our “civilian” (and possible military) production is transferred to other less costly producers. This transfer of wealth creating manufacturing will eventually bankrupt most of the people in the US while transferring wealth to the investment and banking classes. This is the end stage of a long term colonial policy running out domestic and foreign relations. The result will be a stagnant economy and probably Digger 1 will run out of people that can pay for having wells drilled even if they need them.

Frist we DRILL, not "dig". With 3/4 of a million dollars worth of equipment.

Most pay lobbyists. NRA, NWACP, NARP, NSBA and PETA. If you belong to most any association, you participate. Any political party, most churches.
Yes, churches. It is our system. Rainbow Push pays one of the most expensive lobbying networks in DC.

Will I run out of work? No. I can drill anywhere in the world, drilled my well in Honduras. I have plenty of money anyway.

Politics in Michigan is extremely oriented against legitimate business, except for GM/Ford/Chrysler and their lazy executives/workers and their **** products. Lower taxes on business ... how to afford it? Stop subsidizing GM, Ford, and Chrysler.

A one state recession/depression is inexcusable. Alabama and Arkansas (who the hell wants to live in Arkansas?) are doing better. Even Illinois is doing better, even though the politics and taxes here are insane. Ohio is also a regressive state culturally, economically, and politically (the third flows from the second, which stems from the first).

I'm not talking about lifestyle, though; I was responding to the poster who said they didn't want to pay to take care of anyone else's children. I cannot afford health care for my own children, which is a basic need IMO.

Default health care cult of greed

I will tell you that I work in the health care industry as a nurse, I push paper for the hospital to try to get the insurance companys to pay the bills, They will use any excuses to deny coverage.
37 cents of every dollar billed to insurance companys goes to paper work to get them to pay by filling out their draconain papaer system designed to make you slip up and give them an excuse to not pay.
On the other hand, medicaid and medicare uses only 1 cent of every dollar billed that goes to paperwork.
so much for the lies that say government will regulate us to death. When you put proffit into an area of life that we can not decied to go with out, or we are a captive in the system at the mercy of the providers, we will be taken advantage of.
Let me put it this way, I can decied that I will not buy a gallon of milk if the price goes to high, then the price drops and supply and demand works. but when a heart valve goes out, I am forced to pay what ever it costs to get it fixed or I will not see tomorrow, they have the only game in town. Is this not illegal in the freemarket system? cornering the market on any one area?
did not people go to jail for doing this in the silver market a few years back?
But when it comes to our health it is just dandy.
The republicans have brain washed us with fear that we will end up like the canadians who hate [a lie] their system. just like sadam has WMD's and if we do not take him out we will have a mushroom cloud over new york, or you are with us or with the terrorists, one line fear tacticts.
The yellow hord, the red menice.
Did we not learn anything form orwells 1984, that if the government can keep us in a constant state of fear and panic, and war, we will gladly sacrafice for the "sake of the greater good" and the real greater good is the status of the top tire or the rich?
The republicans dangle the "you to can become rich" to try to play on our feelings of greed, Dont take my hard earned money.
We are falling behind in education, and what do the republicans do? they want to pull more money and feed it to the richest schools.
The problem has become so bad that it is almost out of control, Many do not like Moore, but Moore and his message are two different things, If Moore has a point then we should examin it.
The republicans have and are jumping ship very fast, I know the GW will not change his mind, he has the Custer desision type mentality. but many in the red side of the isle are jumping on this issue.
The white house should be rexamining it possision but I know it will not.
GW will pardon scooter [my prediction] just after the election and just before he is out of power providing he does not do a beer hall putsch.
Some have said we needed to clean up the white house from clinton, but now we have to clean up the country, we jumped out of the frying pan into the fire.
I just hope we can turn things around and that we can make it to 08

Hummmm...do you mean the big hole I saw in NY, three months after 9-11was just me being brain washed?? Dang!

I have had experience with heath care myself. I was working a few minimum wage jobs when I had to have a hysterectomy due to cancer. I applied for and received help with that situation.

I did not need a free lifetime pass, just a little help. We all should be able to get that, and I believe those who qualify can.

I worked three jobs during most of it, I remember being thankfull for pay day to buy a scarf to cover my bald head.

I have no interest in socialism.
